Center for Experimental and Behavioral Public Administration (CEBPA)

The Center for Experimental and Behavioral Public Administration (CEBPA) works to support and develop experimental and behavioral approaches to public administration research and practice.

CEBPA sponsors research, speakers, workshops, visiting scholars, and other activities that help develop theory and methodology in experimental and behavioral public administration. The center houses two online research panels, one a voluntary sample of citizens (CivicPanel) and the other a voluntary sample of public and nonprofit managers (Public Service Research Panel). CEBPA helped found the Journal of Behavioral Public Administration (JBPA), which is an interdisciplinary, open access, peer-reviewed journal that focuses on behavioral and experimental research in public administration. In 2020, JBPA became independent of CEBPA.

CEBPA also seeks to work with government and nonprofit agencies in Newark, New Jersey and beyond interested in using field experiments to test behavioral strategies or interventions designed to improve public services and community quality of life.
